Celebratory Meeting with Rilima Church Network Committee and Volunteers

Water Project staff hosted a meeting with Rilima Church Network Church members and Water Project volunteers on October 26, 2020. In this meeting, achievements of the Water Project in Rilima sector were presented. This includes the installation of 19 Rain Water Harvest Systems on selected churches, installation of 9 SAM2 community filters at schools and health center, the distribution of 2,143 SAM3 household filters, and training of beneficiaries on hygiene promotion as well as supporting community hygiene clubs in different villages.

 

The Water Project team thanked the Church Network Committee and volunteers for their hard work to serve the most vulnerable through distribution of water filters. The Church Network Committee committed to follow-up and support Water Project volunteers after phase-out and report regularly the activities of home visits to check the functionality of filters to ensure their sustainability.

Volunteers are the key to our success. All volunteers receive training on water, sanitation and hygiene principles as well as how to build, operate and maintain filter technologies. Volunteers complete a certification program that ensures they are prepared to train and support recipients.
