117 SAM3 Household Filters Distributed

Reported by Rebero Jean d'Amour, Story written by Amanda Mulder

During August 2020, volunteers were able to distribute 117 SAM3 Household Filters to families in Rukumberi and Rilima. One of the filters was given to Clementine, one of our Water Project Volunteers.

When asked about the filter, she told us, "I was very happy to have SAM3 water filter at home because before I got it, I was using water from Birira Lake. I had to boil that dirty water to have safe drinking water. But, finding money for buying firewood was a challenge for me. After getting the filter, I no longer need firewood for boiling water from lake. I filter it and drink clean water. I also help my neighbors to filter water from the lake using my SAM3 filter. Even the village leader was very happy to see this technology of making dirty water clean. As a volunteer, having a filter at home helped me to be familiar in using it and I will be able to help other beneficiaries. I thank a lot all the people who played a role in providing these water filters.
