Feedback Meeting with Water Project Volunteers

Reported by Amanda Mulder

Water Project staff held a feedback meeting with members of the Church Network Committee and Water Project Volunteers from Ntarama. During the meeting, participants discussed the ongoing Water Project activities. Volunteers are continuing to visit and support families who have received Household Filters. They are also visiting schools and clinics with Community Filters.  And, they are supporting churches with Rain Water Harvest Systems.

However, volunteers have not been meeting regularly with the Church Network Committee. In addition, volunteers worry about a lack of supplies nearby that can be used to repair filters when they find issues. In order to address these issues, the Church Network Committee and volunteers have agreed to meet once every two months to remain in better communications. The Water Project will provide supplies for assembling, sifting and washing sand for future repairs. Finally, a report will be provided each month on activities.

Solution:
Volunteers are the key to our success. All volunteers receive training on water, sanitation and hygiene principles as well as how to build, operate and maintain filter technologies. Volunteers complete a certification program that ensures they are prepared to train and support recipients.
