2 SAM2 Community Filters Installed in Kagogo
Reported by Consolée UWIMANA, Story written by Margaret CoolmanIn September, Water Project volunteers were able to install 2 SAM2 community filters in the sector of Kagogo. Both systems were installed in different areas of the village of Gitare. One was placed in a school and will serve over 900 students and staff. The second system was installed at the Health Center and will serve approximately 400 people in the surrounding community.

Solution:
SAM2 (Sand And Membrane) filters are large capacity solutions with a 10-year-plus lifespan. A SAM2 requires no electricity or fuel and has no moving parts, making it the ideal solution for rural areas. Schools and Health Clinics are trained how to use and maintain the filter, empowering them to be self-sufficient and address their own needs.
